Pola de Gordón is a town with some services, groceries, a couple of pensiones and bars/mesones. Two hotels have closed, one recently, and the other many years ago. Both Pola de Gordón and Buiza are on the Camino del Salvador, which goes from León to Oviedo. If you plan to switch over to the Salvador, as @MikeJS did, you should stay in Buiza. Pola de Gordón is to the south, taking you back towards León. So if you sleep in Pola de Gordón, you will just have to return the 7 kms to Buiza the next day. I have found a nice looking CR in Buiza, but they don’t seem to do one night stays or rent by the room.

I have spent three nights in Pola de Gordón, and have slept twice in the rooms above the Mesón de Miguel, and more recently in the Pensión 15 de Mayo. Neither of these is special, but they are both perfectly adequate — cheap, less than stellar beds, decent bathrooms, clean sheets, all in all perfect pilgrim places. Mesón de Miguel is a decent place for an adequate meal.

One taxi in Pola de Gordón, just in case anyone needs it. Álvarez Suárez, tel. 987 586 058

Camino de Sant… (not verified)

HOW HAD I NOT KNOWN ABOUT THIS PLACE?
5 minutes maxi outside the road for Camino. Nu is the administrator and super helpful. They have 2 super clean and lovely caravans and are happy to support pilgrims.

Normally tourists stay in huts which are €77 with bathroom and kitchen , living room and bedroom. (Normally 4 to 6 people).. like a family. The other options are a caravan for 3 or maybe 4 people which is super nice for €40 or a smaller caravan for 2 is €35. (2022). Super welcoming place and I would highly recommend it. 'Nu' speaks English and is a super classy and welcoming woman.

My phone charger had a major mishap in Hotel Nisi (In 2019 the charger blew up as well.. I just assumed it was a one-off). 'Nu' kindly charged everything up at reception. The reception is open 9am to 14hpm and 15hr to 20hours. Did I mention they have a PISCINA or swimming pool (20metres) that is open 13h to 15h and 17h to 20h. This is a super clean and tranquil place. You can go to a restaurant (15th May) for Pizza. Perfect showers. I will post photos to the Camino forum.
