Fiesta

Día de la Cruz is celebrated on the 3rd of May and San Roque is celebrated on the 16th of August.

The Road

The only tricky part about Santa Cruz is getting to the albergue, which requires a detour from the official camino. It is left-hand turn at the church, at a junction with the CA-300. This will take you back over the railway, and then over the A-67. Immediately after the A-67, where it bends to the right, a set of stairs on your left take you down to the level of the N-611. If you choose this route note that it is not necessary to retrace your steps, this option will rejoin the official camino further down the N-611. The official camino keeps going straight at the church and to Mompia.

Walked down into Santa Cruz de bezana from red route and stayed in hotel Costa San Juan de la canal. It was a 10 minute walk to it but it was very good I was able to get food that evening 8.30 not expensive and could get breakfast

Walked from Santander on the costal red route and it was amazing. There is a few places that are not not accessible as houses seemed to have reclaimed back land but just back track and you will find your way. Be careful if it is raining as it might be a little too slippy to walk and mucky and keep full trousers on my legs got stung with nettles trying to fight through over grown parts
When you get to the light house I had to jump a wall to follow the red line. Also there is a few spots after Santa Cruz that is so over grown you can’t get through it. So just back track. It would be great if wise pilgrim would re plot this route as it’s such a pity not to do it. But there was a few times the map made no sense and you will just have to use your own common sense
Bring lots of water and food there is really nothing to get. But if you are a little bit adventurous don’t miss it I’m going to bring my husband back to do it

Camino de Sant…

We arrived here today and the Albergue closed. We asked at the restaurant ont the other side of the road but is in closed indeed indefinitely!
