Notice

The camino, before entering Póvoa de Santa Iria, turns right and heads directly towards a tunnel that passes under the A1. DO NOT go through that tunnel. Instead, turn left and continue another 700m before turning right into a second tunnel. See caution symbol on the map above.

The signs to Fatima and Santiago have been updated. The tunnel that you shouldn’t take is on your right, cross the road and walk straight and you will see the signs to point you towards the 2nd tunnel indicated in the route and on the map

I was going to give the lady manager a thumbs up. Although she was quite rigid, if you dug deeper, she wasn't too bad. But then, at 8:30 pm she began smoking in her bedroom in the albergue which was quite close to my bed. I am very allergic to cigarette smoke. I've never seen anyone smoke inside an albergue. This is my first albergue in Portugal though.

If you arrive on a day when you have Bruno and Sandra as the greeting managers then all will be well. They are helpful and knowledgeable about the beginnings of your journey.
IF you get the woman who has now become continued pilgrim dinner conversation far into the journey, then you are in for an up close view of neuroses and mental instability that will certainly keep you entertained. Just not in a good way.

This was the only Albergue that asked pilgrims for their COVID vaccination and to wear a mask. It was not allowed to bring your backsack up to the bed. Although the volunteers sleep at the place, they got very angry when some pilgrims arrived after 17 o'clock. On the Camino I met many pilgrims that had a bad experience staying here, it's really a shame because this is the first Albergue the pilgrims experience.
Somehow I was treated very nicely and had an ok experience. It would be nice with a pillow because that I didn't priorities to carry with me.

Bardzo miła obsługa, bardzo czysto. Bez piętrowych łóżek. Brak WiFi. Konieczny paszport Covid 19 lub test ! Polecam

Camino de Sant…

Since I haven’t done this Camino before I cannot tell with certainty but it looks like they have changed the path. Right before that tunnel (very steep with only one lane for cars) the arrows point to the left and then, after quite some distance- could be 700m) it goes through that second tunnel (which is short, broad and loads of light coming through). :) Buen Camino!

Camino de Sant…

This albergue is closed for now. :-/ In Povoa as well.
