Calzadilla’s Iglesia de San Martín, possibly the least visited church along the camino, has a generous display of crosses of Santiago.

The best, and most creative, menu in town is at Los Canarios.

The Road

The camino between here and Ledigos, a distance of 6.2km, has several detours. A large stone marker at the edge of town indicates the possible routes ahead. These variations will take you further into the hillside and away from the road. Most merge shortly before entering Ledigos, but the one that keeps farthest to the left/west (known as the Palomares Route because of the number of dovecotes along the way) bypasses both Ledigo and Teradilllos and is the shortest route to Moratinos.

Nataneal is a great host, friendly & welcoming. The pool is large enough to swim in, cool & clean. There are hand washing facilities with soap provided, plus a washing machine & tumble dryer if required. For only 10 euros, we were very happy. Breakfast was outstanding! 3 euros for a great buffet that would have cost €5 or. €6 elsewhere. The albergue is still a work in progress- so get there early to get showered before the rush

This place is so modern and comfortable… totally clean ofcourse.
I felt almost like having a hotel room :)

I recommend it with pleasure

After the highway of pilgrims in the morning I had a wonderful and peaceful afternoon from Calzadilla to Moratinos without seeing another person. To do this take the most southern of the routes to bypass Ledigos, but you need this app to navigate the myriad of local tracks and sometimes you are feeling you are heading way off course. But well worth it.

Very beautiful, digest and far nicer than slogging along the road

Along a ridge, through some ancient woodland with lichen covered trees

However I do not know why you say it is shorter: the route you indicate is about 2km longer than the road (which is naturally the most direct)

That said… Rather than directly rejoin I used Google maps and carried on the path by Población del Arroyo to rejoin at San Nicholas so that did shorten things

Just negate there is *a* recommended route dors not mean it is the only path

I'm glad I had the app because there was no sign posting but that meant we didn't see anyone for the whole 6 or 7 K to Ledigos. It was beautiful with a lovely variety of landscapes.

Monica, at 200 Calle Mayor, gives great 25 Euro 1 hour massages. She has a sign out and also a sign as you enter town.

Camino de Sant…

We took the Palomares Route but if we hadn’t been tracking ourselves on this app we would have been lost, NO markings however it was so WORTH it! You don’t feel like it’s shorter at all until after Ledigos. Peaceful freedom in the hillside, wow take the alt but check on this app to make sure not to get lost!

Camino de Sant…

The alternate route leaving Calzadilla takes you away from the highway and is quite lovely walking thru the fields.

Last year I stayed in the municipal Alberque, which was one of the nicer Municipals. This year, of course they are closed so we decided to stay in the Hostel Real Camino. The room was ckean and beds comfortable and the bar downstairs serves very reasonable priced drinks but the top marks go to the staff and food. Truly some of the most delicious food ive had on the Camino. The staff can not be more helpful and hand on heart i can say, great place to stay.
