Jose Maria was one of the most hospitable hosts I’ve experienced on the Camino. He was kind enough to fix us breakfast, which was unexpected! There were only four of us, each with our own “pod.” The albergue was quiet, bathrooms modern and clean, but the highlight was Jose Maria showing such gracious hospitality and kindness. He has his own silicone stamp, and takes great care of his pilgrims.

Nice place. Decent kitchen. Very friendly host. Good bathrooms. Only 4 us here tonight. Strangely though he put me in a pod with one man. I saw that 2 pods had no one so i asked to move. He said they all mixed but was happy for me to move. He also put another woman in with one man. I dont mind sharing when necessary but its usually several people in a dorm when its just one man and me its bit uncomfortable for me. If there are 2 women best put them together if possible . I see the other woman has moved herself to the other free pod. 4 people 4 private pods is lovely. Roman road is so beautiful quiet with lavender fields and so many flowers and butterflies

I always planned to walk the variant via Calzadilla de Los Hermanillos. Such a pretty walk-through varied landscapes and beautiful lavender flowers. It is a Sunday and unfortunately the only shop in town is closed but the hospitalero brought me some supplies from his home I think and all is well with the world ☺️☺️. The albergue is clean a mix of modern and old world charm. Do yourself a favour and detour away from the Roman road.

This Albergue is on the quieter route. Only 4 people stayed the night I was there. Rooms in pods of 4. Newly renovated bathrooms. Fantastically equipped kitchen. Grassy area out the back to hang washing/hang out. Andrea’s greeted me out the front offering me coffee and water. The other Albergue in town has pilgrim meals if you don’t feel like cooking. The supermarket is across the road.

Warm welcome by the hospitalero, with freshly brewed coffee or water if you like.

16 beds (not 22!) are arranged four to a pod. Comfortable, with blankets available.

Kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal. Shop across the road opens at 17:00.

Hospitalero, over dinner, told us the Albergue has never filled to capacity. I would recommend a stay here.

Very new and well appointed and a great donativo. There is a shop just outside and the private albergue down the road does meals and breakfast.
But if weather cold not a good place to stop. There is little in the way of heating beyond wood fire in kitchen. As a result the rest of the building is very cold.

My group heard all albergues were full on the Roman road but "the Camino provides"

Stayed here with just two other pilgrims. Wonderfully updated. Donativo. Great bathrooms for men and women plus one exclusively for handicap access. HOT water! Nice little market directly across the street.

There's not much in the town so bring food or buy at the market. if you want to enjoy a true pilgrim's experience, veer off the trail. The Camino will provide!

It was a really good night. Super Host, super Location nice beds and really clean Bathroom and Kitchen. Also the People here in this village are really nice. I would suggest to go this route instead of the „Real Camino“ and stay here.

Buen Camino

Camino de Sant… (not verified)

Last night, I stayed in this little village of 100 people. Calzadilla DeLos Hermanillos is the name of the municipal Albergue and has 16 beds partitioned into 4 sets of 4. We were the first one to check in and Luis welcomed us so warmly and showed us where everything is. Then he left for lunch and had me in charge of the place. So far I have welcomed two guests and showed them where everything is. I am liking this place and before I forget, this place is a “donativo”, only takes donations.
It’s newly renovated and everything is new. Buen Camino!

The municipal albergue is not close to finished and the backup accommodations are pretty bad. Memory foam mattress, no lock on the exterior door, no working wifi. When it's finished construction, it should be really nice with a kitchen, dining area, and giant room for pilgrims. Until then, Calzadilla is going to be a tough place to stop.
