It is clean and nice and you will be served a very good dinner and breakfast. The atmosphere is relaxed and you will have a good rest. The Perla Negra in Azqueta is welcoming, warm, and roomy. The atmosphere is relaxed and Elena, the proprietor, is elegant and generous of spirit. She prepared a delicious common meal for us. The beast I’ve had so far. No bunk beds here. No crowding. All peregrinos were kind and polite with each other as a result of the good environment engendered by Elena. Finally, we were provided with a great breakfast and a warm, morning send off.

Elena made sure we were all comfortable. The meal was all I love to eat since I am vegetarian. She had quinoa , a chickpea stew with fresh vegetables. Spinach salad and scallops. Nice glass of wine before bed and some fruit to finish dinner.

Highly recommended!

I loved it here. Super host - lots of amazing vegan food. Single beds only. Feels very homely and not at all like a dorm hostel. It was a nice break from Albergue life and worth the little extra. Stay here - you’ll be happy!

Elena is a fantastic host and as she puts it ‘cooks with love’ and you taste it! Spacious rooms with beds in a small 40people village; you will arrive a peregrino and leave a friend

La Perla Negra is not for everyone. It’s not for people transporting carryons. It’s not for people who want the cheapest bed possible. It’s not for dedicated carnivores. Its not for people who know the price of everything and value of nothing. It’s not for people who still haven’t opened their hearts to the Camino.

For everyone else, La Perla Negra is a black swan event. Something you never expected but once encountered it puts everything else into perspective. With La Perla Negra in your stay history you’ll have an albergue out of the ordinary to compare everywhere else with.

Helena is the pearl and the albergue reflects her heart. If you’re a touregrino move on. This place is not for you and you’ll be unhappy. If you’re open to Camino grace, you must stay here.

La Perla Negra is my favorite place along the Camino so far. Elena is a wonderful hospitalera. Loved that the food is vegetarian. Worth every penny. Had a delightful group dinner and breakfast. What a blessing!

Elena is a wonderful hostess — La Perla is worth the stop. Delicious veggie dinner even for carnivores. Comfy beds — NO bunk beds here! Resident fat cat who is quite dapper. And Elena herself who is a jewel. She is just lovely to talk to — vey positive and finds solutions.

The bar in town is open until 1530 and makes yummy sandwiches too — they’re vey big though.
