We woke up 4am in the dorm with the bed full of bedbugs. We immediately left the room and took our stuff outside. While sitting outside and making a plan, everyone else in the room was also leaving. They all had bedbugs in their beds.

We considered waiting until the owner was showing up in morning. But based on a google review we found about the owner not taking it seriously, we preferred to walk and have time to get everything fixed when when we arrived.

Bedbugs!!! Thankfully upon entering the dorm and seeing the low standard of cleanliness I decided to do an inspection. Room was obviously unclean, dirty dusty corners of rooms and bed frames. The mattresses had fabric covers stitched onto them presumably to stop people from inspecting the mattresses. Found dead bedbug pretty quickly. Also evidence of recent bedbugs on pillows. Told the owner and showed him a photo and he tried to reassure me it was ‘just one’ and that they use pest control.
He offered to change room to another building that definitely did not have bed bugs. If you know you’ve had a recent problem, then why not use that building whilst you sort the problem?
Left without a refund to find another albergue. Not worth the trouble.

This is my first review because I’m really enjoying his place enough to say so

Be friendly, try to use Spanish

This place is amazing in my honest opinion
Got the pilgrim meal: lentil soup + steak guisada + cake
And espresso

Worth it. Food is so good
Service is amazing

They will wash and dry your clothes for you (4€+4€)

Cozy room, not overcrowded

I had no issue reserving two beds via WhatsApp. Upon arrival we were tired and used google translate to see if we could change to a private room if available. The room was very simple with a double bed and linen. Shared bathroom was clean (albeit old), but served its purpose. Remember, you are in a very small rural town where English is generally not spoken, you are the guest and with some respect you’ll have a nice stay.

Casa Molar is a nice place with character and decent food. Could use new mattresses.

The two men that run the hostel are not very communicative. Speak nothing else than Spanish in a non-social way. It is dark, looks shabby and the beds do not feel very clean.
Specially for women: do not accept the proposal for a (free) massage. The man goes over boundaries doing so.
I felt unsafe in this place altogether.

It was rainy & cold - otherwise I would have left.
You are longing for a hot shower, but after 1 min the water stops, even the cold....
When I told this to both of the hosts, they said "Ai" did not react, no apology, not putting a hint for the next one...
In the morning no toilet paper...
Lamps in the bathroom very dark - I didn't feel well at all, not really clean...
30€ for a single room is 15 to much with external poor bath as mentioned - the dormitory seemed to be much better.

All of this is not a matter of money to spend, it is a matter of respect.
Should ask 0,50€ more and give us a good feeling.

One host was quite friendly, the other didnt even greet, the food was ok - but what can go wrong with fried eggs & chips...

April 24, reserved a private room over phone. When arrived, handed over my US credit card - which got “declined” according to little wireless card reader. We tried few times, then they switched to another card reader, also “declined”. Finally they used a third machine and card went through . Few days later, I noticed on my CC account multiple charges for 30 Euros ! Filed a dispute ( still ongoing ). Anyway, could be innocent error on their side , they are not tech savvy ….. Room was close to stables , scent of cows in the room …. Food service very slow, so walked over to nearby place for some salad and soup.
Would avoid next time .

They will not respond to Whatsapp which I use because my Spanish is bad. There is no other way to reserve a bed. They are only reserving beds to Spanish speaking individuals on the phone. My Korean friend was in tears and decided to go home after coming all the way from SJPP. The person that answered the phone was laughing at her Spanish and hung up on her. I had a similar experience, very mean.
