Camino de Sant… (not verified)

We stayed here on May 19 2023. It’s a massive albergue with no charm. Only 3 showers and 3 toilets in each bathroom (men’s and women’s). The bunk beds are staggered in very small cubicles. The food is pretty bad. It’s clean and typical of a big albergue experience but if you can afford to stay at the hotel on-site, that’s a better option. Or plan your in advance to keep going and stay somewhere better in the next town.

Those pre-booked have to queue for over an hour, some arriving later reported up to 2 hours wait as there is only one receptionist dealing with the 170 pre-booked pilgrims, come on Roncesvalles, you are making enough money to have additional receptionists.
Accommodation good, evening meal also good value

check in is very messy. we had a massive group from Korea which flooded the check-in, with no respect for others. It would be great of they gave you a number and let you go somewhere else - others waited two hours to check in. dinner is great for the price. I gave up breakfast, 7am is far too late. Apparently basement dormitories are cheaper, but cold. upstairs it's nice, clean and modern. open space, so one nasty snorer can wake up the entire floor. bring earplugs.

Take a number they call you and check you in. Leave shoes outside to dry. They have a lift. Vending machines are available as well as a nice kitchen if you bring your food. You also have the option of including your dinner / breakfast in the price you pay. Dinner was rushed but good portions and flavor. Cold bunks and warm showers. No blankets provided. They also have a laundry service. washed our clothes and told to come back at a certain time to pick up our clean clothes. 3 euros per washer 4 euros per dryer. Overall nice stay.

Modern hostel with lockers, wifi (in some areas bad connections). I like bed planning. Big kitchen, but You need to take your food (including spices, tea, coffee etc.). There are a few vending machines where you can buy some chocolate bars, sweets, biscuits, juice in a can etc.

Roncesvalles has a very efficient system for the number of pilgrims that go through. Take advantage of the dinner, so that you can meet as many people for the coming days as possible.

Camino de Sant…

I know this place is traditional but staying there made me feel like cattle. Bathrooms became filthy quickly with hundreds of pilgrims using facilities. Beds were in comfortable rubber pads with poorly designed ladders for top bunks. Dinner was overpriced and not well prepared. I love the Camino but will never start begore Romcesvalles if it means having to stay here again.

Camino de Sant…

It's hard to sleep on the top bunk when you are afraid you will roll off in the middle of the night

Camino de Sant…

Great place to stay. Good kitchen facilities if you plan to cook your own meal. Everyone who works at the albergue are very helpful. The bunk beds and toilets are very well maintained and clean.

Camino de Sant…

For such a large facility, it is very organized and clean. You will need a euro to use the locker in your sleeping area. It is given back to you when you open the door to your locker, but you will need it to lock the door to your locker. The showers are clean and the water was hot. Dinner was nice, the light breakfast I chose left a lot to be desired. I should have ordered the full breakfast. There’s more food, but it’s still on the continental breakfast style of food. The Pilgrims evening Mass and blessing were well attended and nice. It was mostly in Spanish with a few moments when the priest would say something in English.
