We arrived early as we had had a long trip to get there.
The hospitaliero scalded us as we were”young” and should walk more.
He told us that we could not enter until 4pm. Which we were aware of. But was nasty about it.
Once the place opened the senoras turned up along with the “jefe”.
He was again condescending and unpleasant. He spoke to us(a family of 4) as if we were children. “ this is not a hostel, it is an alburgue for pilgrims” he then proceeded to sit there and drink until 10pm w a bunch of Spanish people. Making plenty of noise.
The sign says 14 people, it sleeps 13.
They treat foreigners like scum. Locals like gold.
Water is tuned off outside.
Showers “only in the afternoon”
Guilt trip donotivo.
If you can possibly avoid this place you should. The town is lovely. But the guy who runs this place is an absolute………

Arrived early as we were jetlagged and it was a fiesta weekend so limited accommodation options. Arrived at 10.30am, the host came out and told us to keep walking another hour to the 12 tribes albergue & we said we were happy to wait until 1600pm for opening. He rolled his eyes and slammed the door. Rude again on check in. Water tap turned off outside until opening at 1600H. Refused some other walkers as they didn't have credentials. Only 13 beds that night as they had a friend staying. Spoke limited English. Treated Spanish people much nicer (they got given proper blankets) where as we only got disposable sheet and pillow case. They lock the doors overnight from 2200H to 0700H, so you have to wait to be let out in the morning. Stay by donation (not sure why they aren't nicer as people would give better donations). Don't rely on this place for accommodation as the hosts might find a reason to turn you away. Did have wifi and hot showers though.

Por segunda vez ruego que cambien los núm. de teléfono del albergue Santa Ana de Pasai Donibane en el Camino del Norte, los que anuncian ya no son operativos. El actual es: 676 519 309.
Gracias.

Very nice and the couple who run the albergue helped us with laundry and made sure we had blankets to stay warm,

it was a blessing to find space at this hostel after a very tough first day. we got there around 12pm and were the 8th and 9th in line. we had to wait 4hrs to be admitted and the tap outside was turned off, unfortunately.

if you are past #14 in the line, don't wait. if you have a tent, there MAY be space in the garden, but the 14 beds is strict. No kitchen and the nearest shop is like 8min downhill

Ferry was still 1.10 as of March 2023. Cash only but they provide change.

Clean, well run, able to wash cloths by hand and lines to dry.

It can be difficult to locate!! When your app ‘states you are here’ you will see 57, on the other side of the walkway is a stairwell, go up the stairs, after two flights you will see entry to two homes, you still need to proceed up many more stairs to the top, which is the Albergue. The volunteer was helpful. Good experience.

My first stop on my Camino. There is a strange rule here: no noise til 7 am, so I had to stay in bed an hour after I woke up. No kitchen or facilities for eating. Very limited space.

Info here needs to be updated - it only opens in April.

I passed by here on March 21st. Albergue was closed.
I stayed in the beautiful pension just on the harbour in same little town. A little expensive, but just beautiful, and including breakfast.
