Services
Bar
Yes

The bar and albergue are both in the town of Pradela, which sits just off the camino before it descends towards Trabadelo. You do not need to go into town unless you are after a drink or a bed. Otherwise follow the arrows to keep along the camino.  The forests here are thick with chestnut trees. If you see piles of prickly looking spheres at your feet, look out from above.

The Road

Pradela sits on the hillside just above Trabadelo. The descent along the trail is quick and will deliver you into a side street half way into town; it is also possible to follow the road for a longer but less steep journey.

Yes it’s hard work getting up that mountain but it was all worth the effort. The hosts at the albergue are beautiful souls and the coffee and chestnut cake was worth every step. Do yourself a favor and do the alternative route.😊

The sweetest hosts, freshest food straight from the garden, beautiful chestnut liquor, stunning views, all worth it with the 8km walk uphill or flat. Just a heads up there are no benches or water fountains on the way from Villafranca, but this way was SO worth it. Could not recommend it higher.

Worth the effort! Anna and Miguel open their doors to us with so much heart. If you can come for lunch, do it. The veggies are all fresh and right from the garden. If you can stay for the night, do it. Fresh air, tinkling bells, great food, cute cats, lovely family, gorgeous view, clean facilities, all around five stars ⭐️! I love-love-loved my time here!

Take the detour and stay here. Trust me. The views are amazing and so worth the climb up and the albergue is run by the sweetest couple. Anna helped me and the other guest make bracelets and served a delicious dinner. It felt like home, not like a business. Loved this experience.

When exiting Villafranca some local people tend to send you to the main camino road along the road saying the detour up the hill is dangerous. Don’t be fooled, the walking path is in very good condition and the views are just stunning. The climb is so worth it!
Miguel and Ana from the albergue in Pradela will welcome you with the best chestnut cake plus chocolate sauce.

I stopped for lunch and was quite tempted to just stop and stay…

They are super friendly and the home made food was delicious. Chestnut cake, toast with goats cheese and then a delicious chestnut liqueur

We left before sunrise to Pradela, it was a tough climb and it would be more difficult in the heat of the day. Lovely views from the top, and chestnut trees. Stop by the albergue in the town. The hostess is super friendly and makes everything from fruit and veggies from her garden. We had a fruit smoothie, chestnut cake and bread with goats cheese and pepper marmalade- delicious!!

I totally agree with all the other comments! The views are just breathtaking all the way uphill, albergue and bar are lovely and village is quiet and peaceful. I even saw donkey just wondering around :) The climb is challenging and hard, but it still is worth it! It took me almost 3 hours to pass these 8km. If you are in the Camino - take everything from it! You have plenty of time to walk beside highway after the descent also :)
