Sebrayo

The 10th century Iglesia de San Salvador is one of the most significant examples of Pre-Romanesque architecture in Asturias. If it is locked up, and it most certainly will be, don’t just give up. A few of the locals have keys and if you ask around or get somebody’s attention enough to make the unlock gesture, it might be possible to wrangle a visit.

The Road

In Priesca, after visiting the church, the camino leaves the CL-1 briefly along a path to the right. It rejoins the road for a short distance not far ahead, but then leaves it for the last time along a trail to the left. This trail begins a road shortly after passing under the A-8 at the start of Sebrayo.

A lovely place to stop over. They cater so that you can get food there and cook something up if you wish and the outside area is beautiful too. Its well organised. Loved it.

Camino de Sant…

What a shame that no one else is enjoying this excellent Albergue with me. The ladies running this spotless house cannot do enough for me. They have things to eat you can buy and cook for yourself. The grounds are stunning and it is worth every cent of the costs €12 I spent to stay here. They also have the keys to the church next door that dates back to 1010bc. Thoroughly recommended.

Camino de Sant…

Absolutely charming Albergue in the countryside is very welcome after a long climb. Clean and very well organised. The kitchen store is stocked with basics, wine and vegetables from the garden, so no need to carry these items for 10kms (like I did!)
Run by two lovely ladies.
