A tiny hamlet with a single bar and an albergue. The name — 'of the Royal Road' — is a reminder that this was once part of the main route across Castile. The village marks the approach to the provincial boundary with León.

The Road

From here the camino approaches the provincial border with León. The bridge over the Río Valderaduey marks the crossing — unceremonious but symbolically significant.

Camino de Sant…

Right when you enter San Nicolás there’s an albuerge/restaurant. The owner sold me a Coke for 1€ in spanish. Then he changed the price to 2€ in english when he figured my spanish wasn’t fluent. “2€! Take it or leave!”

Camino de Sant…

Half way geographic point in at the outskirts of Sahagún if you walk via the river (not on the road into town). Very nice. Don’t miss it

Camino de Sant…

After you pass Sunday Camino signed take you to the right so you parallel the road. Rather than following the map which seems to go more into the country. I'm not sure why. It meets up later on by the ermita.
