Vegetarians avert your eyes, Mealhada is Portugal’s center of leitões (suckling pig).

The Road

The camino leaves town along the highway towards the suburb of Sernadelo where the private albergue is located. The arrow for the turn-off from the main road is not easy to see but can be recognized for the Restaurante Tipico with its massive awning.

Stayed in their dorm October 2024 and got bedbugs.

Rui was fantastic! Great room - great suggestions for dinner and breakfast ( restaurant was closed as it was Monday) - right on the Camino! We always grab breakfast if st all possible - so had to walk back into town - but the bakery on main st opens at 7 - and had everything we needed!

Highly recommend this hostel.
Host greeted us with chairs and a bottle of cool water. Speaks a number of languages.
We stayed in a twin room with sheets and towels. All facilities are impeccably clean.
Very close to restaurants and large supermarket.
Overall experience was 10/10

10 Euros for dorm, 20 for a private room with bathroom. Sheets and towels are provided. There is a laundry basin in the yard and the hostel (it's more like a motel) has an adjoined, okayish restaurant. Beeakfast is not provided. When you leave you need to go 500 m back towards the city to get back on the Caminho

Camino de Sant…

Only 20€, own room. Great value for your bucks.

Camino de Sant…

It's not listed there, but you can find albergue, at the end of village. Clean and comfortable, restaurant really near and inside is kettle and some tea and coffee.
