O Cádavo remains a largely agricultural town and is a checkpoint for travelers heading uphill in the opposite direction as its slightly lower altitude makes for a substantial difference in snowfall. The industry here is cows, both for dairy and for meat, and you are bound to see more than one dairy tanker cross your path. The town itself is otherwise rather unremarkable but for the vistas.

The Road

The camino between here and Castroverde manages to avoid the steep LU-530 entirely. From O Cádavo it continues uphill along a farm lane to the town of Pradeda where you can look back for a nice view of O Cádavo. Beyond Pradeda the climb continues up to the Alto de Vacariza.

Camino de Sant… (not verified)

After 10 days of alburgue & hostels filled with broken washers, dryers, showers, etc. it is wonderful to be somewhere where everything works. It’s a few extra bucks but the value for rest after several long hard days in a row is priceless. Most comfortable bed I’ve been on in Spain yet.

And Mery is wonderful. So many thanks to her.

Amazing food & ambience at Méson a Marronda.

I was very disappointed with the food & service elsewhere.

On Camino Primitivo & v v glad I stayed an extra day & found this place for late lunch. Apparently open at 6 am & dinner too. Buen Camino!

MERY the Albergue (and sister Pension) owner is amazingly hospitable kind and helpful. The Albergue is gorgeous, modern, bunks well separated, bedside lockers & lights& electrical plug, modern WC and showers. Individual rooms available. Good equipped kitchen, coffee machine, vending machine for snacks and kitchen has slices, noodles, rice, oil etc. tv in common area. Highly recommended!

Camino de Sant…

Great experience. Owners couldn’t be nicer. Pilgrim menu was 10 Euros and very good.
