Of the two monasteries which once cared for pilgrims in Grañón, only a single altarpiece remains. It is in the Iglesia de San Juan, which also houses one of the towns albergues.

The care given to pilgrims in the San Juan albergue remains top notch and distinct, and the recent opening of an albergue in Carrasquedo (1.5km south and in a forest) keeps Grañón on the list of pilgrim favorites.

Before and after the town the way marked on the map is not what the yellow arrows show. It’s well marked but just Don’t be surprised if you are off the map route

Clean and you can use their laundry machine with soap for free. WIFI great in lobby. Not strong in the room.

This was our starting point for our 2022 walk, we were a group of 15 friends from Ireland, it was such a beautiful place, plenty of room, good food & a few beers to get us on our way the following day, the staff were very friendly & helpful, would highly recommend

If you’re trying to catch the bus onwards, it doesn’t stop in town. It stops at the intersection of the highway just outside town. On the Autobuses Jimenez website this is shown as “Grañon (empalme)”. There’s a small bus shelter on the north side of the highway.

We didn’t expect much more than the usual fare, thus blown away, not only by the Peruvian delicacies but also the attitude and manner of the owner/staff, do yourself a favour, eat here… thank us later xx

Camino de Sant…

Striking out at finding accommodations otherwise, we turned to Airbnb and found Casa Rural Donde Cristina. Located right on Calle Mayor, there are at least 3 private rooms with baths. Six pilgrims ( including us) are here tonight. Nice newer house, modern kitchen, breakfast supplies available. We cooked our own dinner with supplies from the tienda down the street. Comfortable!

Lovely brekkie at Cafe my way served with a smile. Friendly town.

Camino de Sant…

Go to MY WAY café and EAT EVERYTHING on the menu. Then stay and drink and dance all night with your new friends! And in the morning bite into the freshest hot croissant straight out of the oven as they make all meals including breakfast IN HOUSE!
