O Porriño is the heart of Galicia’s industrialized sector and has been so for centuries, the area is rich with granite.

History

O Porriño’s most beloved son is the famed architect Antonio Palacios. He was fond of using the local granite as a building material, the best example of which is the Palacio Municipal in the town center. The family name Palacios appears on several buildings and monuments around town.

The Road

The camino leaves town along the N550. On the north end of town, you will cross a roundabout, keeping to your right. Soon the road passes under the highway, and the trail leaves the road immediately after. After going under the highway, look to your right for a tunnel that passes under the off-ramp. It will take you to Ameirolongo

If I want to stay overnight in Vigo instead of Porrino, what are the most convenient way of public transportation?

Camino de Sant… (not verified)

As you leave O Porrino the edge of town has a walking bridge in construction but the markers do not give a good clear way to the detour.

Fonte dos aloques is the most beautiful place. the host is so nice and helpful. the beds fantastic and server towel and linen. would highly recommend this place, I wanted to stay one more night. only 12 euros

Alojamientos Central is a nice place to stay. Right above Restaurant Paso a Nival. Convenient for lunch, dinner and breakfast

Camino de Sant…

Leaving porriño at the roundabout there is a Camino sign that appears to point right up a dirt path. I followed the wisepilgrim map instead and went straight though the roundabout following painted arrows on the ground. Other pilgrims went up the dirt path, but it appeared to lead to a rec area instead of the Camino in my opinion.

Camino de Sant…

If you do stop in Porriño, pension cando is a very clean and central place. It’s basically a large apartment with a number of rooms that are rented out. It has a small shared kitchen with kettle, microwave , fridge, and a laundry area to rinse/wash clothes. The bedroom was roomy, clean and tidy. All fine for 2 pelegrinos.

Camino de Sant…

I would not recommend to stay in this town. It is loud and not really welcoming. Not much places to chill.

also: einfach ignorieren und geradeaus weiter gehen.

Camino de Sant…

Agree with the other prilgrim - not worth a stop. the town is boring and not with anything interesting to do. Would not stay here again. With that said, I stayed at Senda Sur and had a very fine and relaxing experience there.
