Camino de Sant… (not verified)

Loved the space! There was a green space out front to enjoy. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The shower/restroom was clean and tidy. Good pilgrim’s dinner with plenty to eat. What a treat!

We skipped over staying in Ages or Atapuerca to get that hill over with and be a little closer to Burgos in the morning and we didn’t regret the choice at all. The private room for “parejas” on the Santa Fe Hostel website is the most clean, peaceful, enjoyable place we’ve been in so far. From what we saw of our options at the other albergue in town and those up the hill, this place is the best. The woman who took care of us was very helpful throughout our stay especially considering she seemed to be taking care of a bunch of pilgrims and every local in town at the same time, cooking, serving drinks, and taking care of the albergue side. As someone else mentioned, I don’t know if the entire menu posted on the wall was available, but that said, our pilgrims menu for 13 euro was fantastic. A real salad and no French for was a nice change.

The albergue looks nice and I think we would have liked staying there - but the hostess refused to let us have two bunk beds - she said they were out, but I could have reserved them online still. She then tried to over charge us (according to the website) for the shared bed only room, although she was very upset we wouldn't take a private room. Then, despite a wonderful looking pilgrims menu on the wall, we were told we couldn't have that - only soup, chicken or fish, and it would be 15€. When we tried to order a la carte - even pointing at the very large (and good looking) a la carte menu, we were again told no, only the pilgrims meal, and only soup, chicken or fish. We went up the hill to the other albergue at that point.

Well run albergue. Nice touch to have real sheets & packets of shampoo & shower gel waiting for you on the pillow. They put a lot of effort into making a lovely dinner for us. Nice pillows too!
Makes the walk into Burgo not quite as long.

This alberque is my favorite of all. It is absolutely beautiful and well run. Meals are exceptional . Most accommodating, very comfortable and clean. If you miss this one you have missed out big time!

Camino de Sant…

Hosts were very matter of fact and unwelcoming. Food was ordinary (but they have you over a barrel because there’s not much else in town. Beds comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Beer on tap is cold - what more can you ask for?!!

Camino de Sant…

Very rude and unwelcoming hosts. The 2 female hostess do not speak English or French and expect you to speak Spanish. They literally scowled at us because we did not understand.

Camino de Sant…

Good and comfortabele double room. We wanted to sleep longer but check out time was 7.30. Quick breakfast because the restaurant closed at 7.45.
The host is not nice, kind and helpfull.

Camino de Sant…

Very clean and comfortable albergue if all you want is to sleep, no atmosphere or Camino spirit, it is a bar mainly used by the locals who do not seem to be happy to have pilgrims in their mix, there is no welcome for the pilgrim, you actually feel in the way, but the amenities are good.

Camino de Sant…

Santa Fe has some of the kindest and hardest working employees you could find running a bar and albergue. Bunk room was fine, bathrooms are nicely done, everything was clean and well-run. Give this one a try!
