Albergue de peregrinos de Ourense

Ourense

Description and Notice

Brand new in 2018 and restored at great expense. Unfortunately the hospitalero is the same, and while the facilities might be nice the atmosphere certainly is not. This albergue feels purpose built for Spanish tourists starting on the last 100km of the Camino Sanabrés.

Camino de Sant… (not verified)

The hospitalero was so lazy and hated his job so much it was almost comical. Great location though.

Camino de Sant…

This is a very nice Albergue, the kitchen however is completely empty of any plates, cutlery or pans etc.
We also witnessed the hospitalero eject a pilgrim who had taken the bus telling him that he (quite rightly) could come back after 6.30pm as the beds were first for those who had walked. The whole situation turned nasty and the hospitalero was very aggressive with the pilgrim. It was all a bit shocking and unnecessary.

Camino de Sant…

We have stayed there last night. The hospitalero is a very nice Guy, probably another one. Very helpful. Nice atmosphere. Very clean. Good place to stay. Located in the Old Center.

Camino de Sant…

Appalling attitude from the nan at the desk who ignored me, then was very rude and unwelcoming - I just walked straight out and booked into a cheap good hotel 180 meters up the road. - H.J.Appleby

Camino de Sant…

I arrived in Ourense around 7pm after a long days riding 150 kms. After being told by fellow Pilgrims that this Albergue is the one you want to stay at I went there. I hadn’t even got through the door when the rude front desk guy said if couldn’t take my bike in the Albergue. He said I’d have to leave it out the front of the Albergue. Yea right like I’m gonna leave it there where people walk past all day/night. He basically said there’s a hotel down the road. This was nearly a year ago and I still remember how absolutely rude he was. I got a hotel and they were only too happy to put my bike inside. Like the earlier comments “ let’s hope this guy has gone” or he’s got a conscience and realises how much of a dick he is.

Camino de Sant…

Reception was quite normal after registration I was shown the dormatory and did not experience any of the rude behaviour described by others The facilities are very good, clean, roomy and well maintained. Try this service for €8 in UK, Germany or France. But don’t bring a bicycle
