Camino de Sant… (not verified)

We were last here in 2015. It makes me surprised and rather sad, people’s crushing reviews, when my memory was of a down at heel (very local) bar, and a barman presenting us with a chicken leg each and bread, because that’s all he had to offer. We were hungry, tired and grateful! This part of the VDLP has very few shops, few bars, few places to stay - so any hospitality should be better received.

Today the bar is clean, bright, under new management.. and with a snacks, ibérico meat and fruit for sale. Absolutely no complaints!

Stopped here for a coffee on my way to Fuenterroble and couldn’t find anything to fault despite reading some of the horror stories. K

3.20eu for 2 coffees and a tortilla. Lady at the bar was pleasant and patient with my horrid Spanish.
Bar was clean, I mean maybe they could have swept the floor but definitely not “filthy” as described previously.

I also found it clean and welcoming, including spray cleaning the tables after use. Maybe it’s changed hands.

Slightly creepy feel about this place - i would recommend carrying on to the next town.

Keep on walking - at any cost do NOT stop in the bar!!! The worst service and vibe of the entire Camino so far - A coughing, begrudging rude person served me a dry old tostas and half a glass of chemically infused orange drink for 4.80€!!! I then saw the same person drink milk directly out of the same container that is used to make coffee for customers - I could go on and on. - H.J.Appleby

Do not not stop at the bar in this town unless you want rude service, filthy conditions and prices to rip off pilgrims. By far the most repulsive stop on my VDLP so far. Move on the 3.5km to the next town for a far better experience.
