Camino to Finisterre and Muxia

To Muxía

A Canosa

Lires is the few places between Finisterre and Muxía where you can expect to pick up supplies.  It also has a beach within 1.5km.
There are four Casa Rurals that offer accommodation, and at the time of writing all were bookable online.

Don´t forget to get a stamp here, which is available at any of the bars as well as the little rest stop near the church (signposted).

The Road

TO FINISTERRE NOTE: At the bottom of Lires, opposite the church, there are arrows painted in RED which indicated a ‘coastal’ option to Finisterre which turns right and follows the coast to rejoin the camino near Castrexe. This option adds 1.1km to the route but offers much better views and the possibility to take a pause at the beach.

Camino de Sant…

What a great place to have a stop!!! Do not miss this diamond in Liarès! Good food, good story, good concept!! Lovin’it ❤️

Camino de Sant…

We didn't see any signs to the albergue, so had to backtrack.

Camino de Sant…

The fairly new Liresca Restaurant in Lires is great. Good and interesting food options using local ingredients and different food choices from the usual Camino staples!

Camino de Sant…

There are hardly any markings for this route including near the church. I had to download alltrails to be able to find and follow it. In some places it felt quite sketchy- right along the cliff edges and track very overgrown. Got lost a couple of times despite having the all trails map.

Having said that, the views were stunning. I eventually made it to fisterre (walked muxia to fisterre) pretty exhausted!

Camino de Sant…

New bar/ restaurant , A Brana, just down the hill from As Eiras, friendly staff, music and a different menu.

Camino de Sant…

I had a reservation at the Albergue in Lires, As Eiras.
I was at the same albergue in 2017 and 2018. Everything was nice at that time.
But now the hotel receive buses of tourists and they party all afternoon and evenings.
I will never come back , it doesn't feel like a peaceful rest for the pilgrims who walked long kilometers .
I find there was no spirit of the way here.
Time change.
