Description from owners: The hostal is located in a quiet and beautiful area, at San Miguel de Meruelo, at the end of the village, after crossing an old stone bridge. It is important to know that the albergue of Meruelo is located between Laredo and Santander, 21 kilometers from Laredo and 20 kilometers Santander, so it is a good distances. The albergue of Meruelo is a brandnew building made in stone and wood, decorated in a country style. We offer an organic menu for pilgrims and our specialty is seafood paella. We have free Internet connection. Pilgrims can wash their clothes, as we have a washing machine and a dryer. We have been pilgrim ourself for many times and have walked on different Caminos, so can offer a long experience to pilgrims.

Having chairs or small benches in the rooms would be helpful, there is only the floor to keep your belongings. A small bench in the bathroom would be handy as well, to keep things off the floor.

Clean and well kept hostel with very pleasant hosts. The food is very overpriced and plain. Dinner was soup, bread, 'paella' and a small yogurt for dessert. The paella was very basic and tasteless. €10!! Breakfast was coffee and toasted bread for €3!! The accommodation was fine but save your money and don't have the meals.
