Very basic albergue with few facilities just before the town of Borres. Prior to the arrival of the full time hospitalero in August, the place is hit or miss as the caretaker (from Tineo) only turns up a few times a week.
To get there, look out for the signs sending you up a track from the camino. To leave there, retrace your steps or follow the road to town. From there you can stay on the road, or turn to the right up an arrowed road.
These distances are exact, but are based on a straight line from point to point. Actual walking distances will be slightly longer.
The bar where you get the key for the Albergue was having building work done so it was not clear where the key could be attained.
LA MONTERA is a very dirty place. There is one toilette and one shower only. Cleanliness does not exist however the place is nice. The owners are nice but very stingy. There are no blankets !!! There is no breakfast and 12 euros for just sleeping is expensive.
Very basic albergue, showers were not really clean. But for the price it was fair. The microwave is not working.
There’s a great small but brand new albergue called Albergue La Montera. It’s located near the bar and you can find it on google maps.
