Camino de Sant… (not verified)

Great place to meet pilgrims you might walk with during the rest of your Camino. A roof over your head in poor weather. The short walk from SJPDP means you won’t get far on your first day of walking. But can help you get the wrinkles out of your hiking plans. Bad is facilities get overwhelmed by number of people staying here, insufficient outlets for charging and no wifi. Owner apparently knows better than the guests what’s good for them when it comes to technology. Beds are flimsy and challenging to get in and out of top bunk. In inclement weather you have to go to bed after supper because there’s no common gathering other than the outdoor patio area. A gathering place for noobs not quite ready to shove off on their own.

I stayed there for my first night on the Camino from Saint Jean. Though you may get there earlier in the day, I would recommend staying here for the first day if you are an inexperienced walker as the trip to Roncesvalles may be taxing in the long term. Plainly, the amenities at Orisson are terrible: the beds are a tad uncomfortable, there’s a washer but no working dryer. However, I believe it is 100% worth a stay. The views that you get at refuge Orisson are once in a life time. In addition, the pilgrim dinner here (included in the price of the bed) is one of the best I’ve had.

Good meals, pleasant atmosphere . Good community. But the electric chargers for phones etc don’t work. It is a centralised system with cords for all types of phones…but a silly system.

Just wonderful. They were all nice. During lunch they are crazy busy serving food, but always still attentive when you wait your turn. The pilgrim dinner was tasty and if you're vegetarian just let them know when you check in and they will serve a nice salad with hard boiled egg. A highlight. Love the people we met there. :)

I am so glad I booked a bed here ahead of time. I underestimated my walking ability and would not have made it to Roncesvalles in one day. I got a lower bunk and was very grateful because I had horrible leg cramps. Don’t be too concerned about having enough water to take a shower just because you only received one coin. Just keep pressing the button, many people don’t use all of the time they are allotted and you can keep pressing the button, but the rule of thumb should be - when using a communal shower- just hit the highlights (the important parts) and get done so that you are considerate to those waiting behind you. The introductions done at the Communal meal are a nice touch. And the food is really good.

This was my second time to stay here. I really love this place and recommend getting a reservation ahead of time. The communal meal was wonderful, it’s a great way to meet new people.

I have not picked up a SIM card yet and I’m relying on wifi for a few days I hope to find a sim ASAP

Lovely place to stay and worth breaking the journey here to relax with such an amazing view. Dinner was great and the hard working staff go the extra yard.

Great first night stop, if you can request a room away from the road even better. If in a group of 4 there is a 4 bed room. You meet a lot of folk that may become your Camino Family.

Stay here, know the pilgrims who might walk all the way with you or cross path with you!
