Welcome to the northwestern-most Autonomous Region of Galicia, and more specifically the region of Lugo. The food here changes considerably, as does the terrain and the language. Keep your ears open to the sounds of Galego, a sort of soft version of the Portuguese spoken to the south. Much like in Navarra with it's native language, Galicians here have changed the spelling of signs. Gone is the familiar calle, replaced by rua.
From this point on the municipal albergues listed in the app take on a new icon. Run by the local Xunta, they are something quite apart from the municipal albergues to the East. The pricing is standardized, as are the disposable pillowcases and sheets. Several have been renovated in recent years, and most are built into Franco era schoolhouses.
