Leaving Chantada from the Praza de Santa Ana, continue along Alferez Baanante where the LU-1809 will take you out of town. Arrows will guide you the whole way to Penasillas.
After passing through Centulle the camino arrives at the highway and a mojon across the road indicates (with a shell) that the camino continues straight. IT DOES NOT. Turn right instead, and leave the road at km 92 to your left. These parts are somewhat confused by the shells on the mojons. The arrows are a better indicator of where you should go.
Penasillas marks the beginning of a long climb to the Alto de Faro. Clear cutting has confused the trail in parts, but the path is not too difficult to follow.
Fill up your water here.
Ermita Nosa Señora do Faro, windmills, and a small picnic area.
On the way up to the Alto you will pass a small picnic area on your right hand side. Immediately after that the road merges with another coming from the right. Turn right here, and that same small picnic area will be on your right again. A short distance on you will come to a left hand curve which also has a service road on the right. Take that service road and when it splits take the path the the right, following along the spine of the ridge with the windmills to your left.
All Services. Stamp available from City hall on the way out of town.
The way to Lalin can be made by road or by trail. The road to Lalin is undoubtedly faster, and more direct, but not scenic in the least. The trail will make you feel like you are going in circles at parts but does not add as much distance as you might feel.
The Hostal Carpinteiras is highly recommended, family run and friendly. 986 790 196
